Biography of Fr. Thomas Loh
Fr. Thomas Loh is a member of Congregation of the Disciples of the Lord (Congregatio Discipulorum Domini). He was born in Singapore and grew up and received his education in the state of Penang, Malaysia. He comes from a devout Catholic family, with his parents and one younger sister.
Fr. Thomas’s parents often shared with him a remarkable experience: during her pregnancy, his mother had an unusual and meaningful dream. In the dream, she saw an elderly man dressed in a white robe standing on a large rock, holding a baby boy in his arms. The old man said to her, “Accept this baby boy. When he grows up, I will take him up the mountain.” After saying this, the old man laughed heartily and flew away. The family regarded this dream as a sign from God, foretelling that the child was called to become a priest. With the constant encouragement of his parents, the seed of priestly vocation quietly took root in Fr. Thomas’s young heart.
After participating in vocation camps organized by the Congregation of the Disciples of the Lord and undergoing a period of careful discernment, Fr.Thomas entered the postulancy of the Congregation of the Disciples of the Lord in February 2000. Six months later, he was sent to the novitiate on Yangmingshan in Taiwan, where he completed one year of novitiate formation. On September 1, 2001, he made his first profession of vows at the Provincial House in Xinzhuang, Taipei.
Following his first vows, Fr. Thomas pursued his priestly formation in philosophy and theology at the Major Seminary in Taiwan and at Fu Jen Catholic University Seminary. From 2003 to 2004, he was assigned to Malaysia for further formation and pastoral exposure at St. Ignatius Church, Petaling Jaya, and Costantini Research Centre in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Upon completing his theological studies in June 2007, he returned to St. Ignatius Church, Petaling Jaya to apprentice his pastoral ministry.
On August 25, 2008, Fr. Thomas made his perpetual profession at the Provincial House in Malacca, thereby becoming a full member of the Congregation of the Disciples of the Lord. Three months later, he was ordained to the diaconate. On February 2, 2009, Deacon Thomas, together with four other deacons, was ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Kuala Lumpur by Archbishop Murphy Pakiam.
After his priestly ordination, Fr. Thomas continued his ministry at St. Ignatius Church, Petaling Jaya. On October 15, 2009, he received a new assignment from his Order and was sent to Canada to begin a new evangelization mission at St. Agnes Kouying Tsao Church in Toronto.
Fr. Thomas served as Assistant Pastor of St. Agnes Kouying Tsao Church from October 16, 2009, to May 31, 2017. On June 1, 2017, he was appointed Pastor of the same parish, a role he fulfilled until August 31, 2024. On January 2, 2026, Fr. Thomas accepted a new mission and was appointed Pastor of Our Saviour of the Lord Parish, continuing his service to the People of God.
